THE Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty is planning to conduct a forum on sexual offences against children with the aim of putting together a national strategy to hone in on how and what each sector can do to address this social ill.

This was highlighted by its Minister, Mereseini Vuniwaqa.

“Sexual offences against children cannot be addressed by Government alone or the judiciary alone or the police alone,” she said.

With the increase in the number of sexual crimes committed against our children, Mrs Vuniwaqa said a concerted effort was needed.

“We need in particular an active role to be played by faith based organizations and community leaders, we all need to be speaking the same language and sending the same message unequivocally when we are advocating against sexual offenses against children.”
