“THE excitement over here is less than the one shown at Albert Park last night, that’s how happy we are,” those were the words of the women vendors at the Suva Municipal Market as they eagerly await the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle.

The women are famous for the beautiful array of flowers that often deck the corner of the market in Suva.

Market vendor Nina Tuimouta Koro said as they waited for the duchess, they have been practicing their songs.

“At the moment, we’re practicing two songs which we will sing for her royal highness which is ‘Me da laveta’ and the farewell song – Isa isa vulagi lasa dina. After that, we’ll gift them a bouquet of flowers.”

The Duchess will attend a morning tea at the British High Commissioner’s residence to showcase women’s organisations which operate throughout Fiji.

She will then travel to the Suva Municipal Market to meet some of the female vendors.

The Duke will travel to Colo-i-Suva Forest Park where he will plant a tree and unveil a plaque to mark its dedication.
