PREPARATIONS for the traditional meke or dance ahead of the royal visit of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex Prince Harry and Meghan are going as planned, says Nakelo villager Levani Tuinabua.

Mr Tuinabua said further details into the history and composition of the traditional meke would be revealed on the day of the royal visit.

Like previous royal visits to Fiji, the village of Nakelo has always been tasked with carrying out the traditional welcoming meke for the royal visitors.

On Friday, the men participating in the meke presented their i sevu or first show of the meke to the Tui Nakelo, Ratu Timoci Namela, before the official rehearsal last night.

About 100 men from nine to 10 villages in the district of Nakelo will participate.
