VODAFONE national football coach Christophe Gamel aims to expose more young footballers on the international scene to give them experience.
The national side returned on Monday after a short Philippines tour.
Fiji lost to the Philippines 3-2 and went down to professional side Kaya FC by the same score line in the second encounter.
Gamel said the first tour game against Philippines was very good with high intensity.
“It was a very hard and fast game,” he said.
“The boys did well just the result was not there. We scored the goals which were positive. But we lost the game and I’m never happy when we lose. People think that we are happy when we lose but it is totally wrong.
“The second game I was most disappointed with. Kaya FC was a very good professional side. They had foreign players who gave us trouble.
“I put in the youth boys to give them experience and prepare them for the future.
“Honestly speaking they did not respond well in the game.
“Now I know that the team was below my expectation. We need to work more with these players.”
The Fiji Football Association is in the process of lining up more matches for the national side with the next FIFA International Friendly window opening in September.
Gamel has faced a lot of setbacks in trying to get a core squad together for international matches.
“For the main team we need to continue the process of exposure,” he said.
“My main goal is to have consistency for the remainder of the year and to try and get the group that I want.
“It’s been one year that I’m here but I never had the group that I wanted. I need to see all the players.
“Some clubs and the districts are not helping Fiji FA. We have to end this process. We all have to be on the same page for the future.
“If the national team performs it will also be a very good benefit for the district. I would like to see more players represent the national team.”
