A TEAM seeking public views on the review of the national minimum wage will be in Labasa today
A team of civil servants from the Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations including a consultant Dr Partha Ganopadhyay will sit at the Khatriya Hall from 9am to 1pm according Permanent Secretary for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, Salaseini Daunabuna.
In a statement sent to all media today, Ms Daunabuna said the team were conducting a review of the National Minimum Wage and the ten sectoral Wages Regulations.
“This is in line with the Fijian Government’s commitment in protecting the most vulnerable in society and providing them a basic standard of living thus alleviating poverty,” Ms Daunabuna said..
“The purpose of these consultations is to meet with workers, employers, municipalities and the public at large on the review of the National Minimum Wage and the minimum wage rates for the 10 sectoral industries based on the outcome of the Wage Survey Report of the Consultant produced in May 2017.”
The team return to Suva tomorrow to sit at the Tanoa Plaza from 9am to 1pm.
Oral and written submissions are acceptable at the consultations or can be sent by 4pm, June 1, 2018 to Preeti Narayan at the following address:
