Former magistrate sworn in as Fiji puisne judge

Update: 12:57PM FORMER Magistrate Kurukula Arachchige Shiron Jude Nanayakkara was yesterday sworn-in as the Puisne Judge of the High Court of Fiji.

Justice Nanayakkara who was sworn in by President Jioji Konrote took his oath of allegiance at the State House in the presence of Chief Justice Anthony Gates and Chief Registrar Yohan Liyanage.

He attained his Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 1996 after which he joined the Attorney-General’s Department in Sri Lanka in 2000 where he became the senior State counsel.

Justice Nanayakkara who has 17 years’ experience in the Criminal Division of the Attorney-General’s Department later joined the Judiciary of Fiji in 2010 as a Resident Magistrate.

Prior to his appointment as a Puisne Judge, Justice Nanayakkara was the Master of the High Court of Lautoka.
