THE Rotaract Club of Lautoka continues to engage in a series of community projects in and around the Sugar City, extending at times to communities in Ba, Tavua and Rakiraki.Club president Melissa Natawake said Rotaract was developed in October, 2015, and the group had started with 25 members.
“It is the junior club to the Rotary Club and it is for young professionals aged from 18 to 35, like-minded individuals who want to do something for the community and make a difference in the country,” she said.
“Within a Rotary, you have to embark on different projects like education, literacy, environment and clean-up campaigns.”
“The first project we did was at the Veilomani Boys Home, which helped with back to school in 2016 and clean-up with Golden Age Home and we’re doing literacy programs here at the Western Regional Library in Lautoka.”
