THE Fiji Police Force have found an apparatus to make methamphetamine (ice) within the Nakasi-Nausori corridor.

This was revealed by divisional police commander eastern Superintendent of Police Kasiano Vusonilawe who said they also found raw materials that were being used to produce ice.

“At this moment, the only thing we have found is the apparatus and some of the raw materials that have to be mixed together with other materials to make methamphetamine. They were found in the Nakasi and Nausori corridor,” SP Vusonilawe said.

He said the police force executed its operations based on concrete information they received.

“We don’t execute our operations if there is no concrete information that comes in, we only take action if information is received from our sources,” he said.

SP Vusonilawe said the police force would be heading to the islands in the Lomaiviti Group from next month and their focus would now expand to the maritime islands.

“We have to expand our focus on the small islands, the remote islands, because people who are known to be drug dealers are travelling to smaller islands to hide themselves in and do their dealings from there.”
