WITH the change in venue, the standard of the mother of all festivals — Hibiscus — will not deteriorate.

That’s the message from Hibiscus Events Group Inc chairman Hirdesh Prasad as the popular one-week festival starts at the Valelevu grounds in Nasinu today.

Mr Prasad says members of the public should not be let down with the change in venue but come down in numbers to support the event at its new venue.

He said the festival would feature 30 rides, 44 food stalls, 20 flea markets and a whole lot of entertainment.

Meanwhile, Miss Suva City Council Simran Nand won the best research topic in the Queens category while Mr Trendy Fashion Manasa Navara won in the Kings category last night.

Today’s program:

Noon – Float procession from World Harvest Centre to Valelevu grounds;

2pm – Official opening;

6pm – Appearance by king/ queen contestants; and

7pm – Kaila Star Search finals
