DAMODAR Group is investing $80million in a major mixed-use lifestyle and commercial development in Nadi that is expected to create more than 680 permanent jobs and boost economic growth in the Western Division.
The proposed Damodar City Nadi, to be built along the Denarau bypass, will feature retail, commercial and hotel facilities, with construction and groundbreaking expected to begin in February 2027.
Group CEO Div Damodar said the project was the result of 16 years of planning and research.
“We took the site because we wanted to be central to Denarau, Fantasy, Wailoaloa Beach and to be part of the tourism growth,” he said.
“The whole city development is really based on our concept of working with other developments that are taking place.”
Mr Damodar said the company was working closely with regulatory authorities and planned to develop smart, environmentally friendly buildings.
He said discussions were progressing with two hotel brands, while talks had also begun with local restaurants and retail businesses.
“After what we did with the hotel in Labasa, that has given us encouragement to go into the hotel.”
Finance Minister Esrom Immanuel said developments such as Damodar City Nadi would strengthen economic growth and support Fiji’s tourism industry. Further details, including tenants and commercial partnerships, are expected to be announced next year.
