The Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service (TSLS) has so far disbursed around $32million through M-PAiSA in the last four years.

And on an annual basis, around 4000 students are paid their allowance through M-PAiSA totaling $8m.

These were revealed by TSLS acting CEO Dr Hasmukh Lal at the signing to renew its agreement with Vodafone Fiji on continuing to use the M-PAiSA platform for student allowance payments.

Dr Lal said the last agreement was signed in 2018 that allowed students to receive their allowances through the digital wallet.

Vodafone Fiji Chief Marketing Officer Shailendra Prasad said they understood the many challenges students had to go through before they could access their allowance.

“Through M-PAiSA, we are trying to address these pain points for the students. All they need to do is advise TSLS that they wish to receive their allowance via M-PAiSA and provide their mobile number,” Mr Prasad said.

Maria Arusanotu, a TSLS-sponsored student at USP, said from her experience when she signed up with M-PAiSA, she received 6GB free data, and from there on, she could spend $9.99 to access an unlimited voice and SMS bundle that was valid for 30 days.

She said those services were reliable and convenient.
