23-year-old hands himself in over Nadi taxi robbery

A 23-year-old man has handed himself over to Police in connection with the aggravated robbery of a taxi driver iniNadi this morning.

The suspect surrendered this evening and is currently being questioned at the Lautoka Police Station.

The robbery occurred at around 8am and was captured on the taxi’s dash camera. The video, which has since gone viral, shows the taxi driver pleading for his life during the attack.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Kasiano Vusonilawe said the Western Division Taskforce was continuing its search for the other suspects allegedly involved.

ACP Vusonilawe said Police were intensifying operations to apprehend those involved in robberies and burglaries and ensure they are brought to justice.

He condemned the attacks on innocent people who work hard to earn a living, describing the incidents as cowardly attacks on people who have made personal sacrifices to provide for themselves and their families.
