THE Fiji Police Force has identified 183 drug dealers in the Suva area alone and more than 200 target areas within the Suva-Nausori corridor.

This was revealed by the officer in-charge of the drug intelligence, Assistant Superintendent of Police Anare Masitabua.

He made the comment during Leadership Fiji’s National Dialogue on Substance Abuse held at the University of the South Pacific yesterday.

He said most of the dealers were not confined to a building and were always mobile.

“Most of these dealers they do not stay inside the house, they are outside of the home,” he said.

“They usually drop the drugs around the hedges outside their home but once we go in for a raid to search them, we search along the flower beds and that is where we find these drugs.

“We put on some surveillance officers, we are doing our best but we rely mostly on the communities.”

ASP Masitabua urged community members to come forward and inform the police if they have suspicions that a person was dealing with illicit drugs.
