FROM 2017 the Real Estate Agents Licensing Board referred a total of 12 cases of bogus agents to the police.

This was revealed by the chairman of the REALB Dr Abdul Hassan who said out of the total two cases were identified this year.

Dr Hassan said for an agent and a salesperson was required to be registered under REALB.

“Any persons acting outside the Licensing Act and claiming to be an agent they are the ones who are bogus agents.”

He said these unregistered persons hold no recognition with the board and had no certificates.

Dr Hassan adds one real estate agent was de-registered last year because of unethical practices.

“There are no cases recently, but if I remember last year there was one agent that we had to de-register because the agent owed a lot of money to the clients and this factors cost the agent to be deregistered.”
