Eleven new lawyers were admitted to the Bar last week and reminded that a legal career was built on integrity, honesty and professional ethics.

Speaking at the admission ceremony, Chief Justice Salesi Temo urged the new practitioners to uphold the code of ethics throughout their careers and never allow greed to influence their decisions.

He warned that some experienced lawyers fell into misconduct by abusing clients’ trust or misusing trust accounts, stressing that such actions destroyed reputations and careers.

Justice Temo said lawyers had a duty to protect their clients’ rights, treat them fairly and charge reasonable fees.
