A CHEQUE for $10,000 was presented to the Fiji Red Cross Society by the Fiji Public Trustee Corporation (Pte) Ltd (FPTCL) last week.

FPTCL chief executive officer Antonio Takala said this was the second payout on behalf of the late Joyce Danraijie Heeraman’s estate.

“At FPTCL, we carry out estates administration and when we are appointed executors or administrators, we must uphold that integrity. While end-of-life planning may seem morbid, a will is important and can protect you, your assets and especially your family not just after you die, but during your life as well,” said Mr Takala.

He said people tended to think of having a will or an estate plan as something done when they had passed-on. “Many don’t realise that having a will or setting up a family trust can also protect them and their families.

We at FPTCL, are thankful today to be the instrument that Ms Heeraman has chosen, FPTCL to carry out her wishes,” Mr Takala said.

FRCS director general Ilisapeci Rokotunidau said through the charitable donations as such, the Society was able to continue to carry out the work they did in the communities.

“As part of our work in the community, we are now working with schools in the North to provide clean and safe drinking water for school children in partnership with the Ministry of Education and other stakeholders to provide water tanks to the schools,” she said.

Meanwhile Mr Takala said FPTCL was a public enterprise with more than 30 years as Fiji’s largest will-making service provider, estate planning and administration, trustee services, and other legal services to the people of Fiji.

FPTCL also looks after:

  •  Estates administration
  •  Trustee services (Charitable Trust, Prepaid Funeral Trust, Family Trust, Superannuation/Compensation and other trusts)
  •  Will making.
