The Nadi Bula Festival returns this year in partnership with the Fiji Airport Ltd commencing from July 18.
The festival committee confirmed in a statement that this year’s festival carries the theme “Tradition, Unity, Tourism and Aviation’ and 10 contestants vying for the crown.
Committee president Salome Williams said this year marked a proud turning point for the festival.
“For the first time in our history, we have established a dedicated queens committee to run every aspect of the pageant, from contestant sponsorship to the staging of the crowning itself,” she said.
“It is a deliberate step to lift the standards of the Bula Festival and to tie everything we do back to Nadi: our communities, our people, and our shared pride in this town.”
The new queens committee is made up entirely of volunteers drawn from organisations that are key stakeholders at Nadi International Airport.
The committee’s executive coordinator, Gavidi Cakobau, says the committee is made up of volunteers who work side by side every day at Nadi International Airport.
“We see this festival as a natural extension of that work.
“We are inviting our fellow airport stakeholders to stand with us to help us raise the festival to a new standard and to strengthen Destination Nadi, so that the spirit visitors feel the moment they land carries right through into the heart of our town,” Mr Gavidi said.
