YOUNG people have been encouraged to take an active role in promoting peace, unity and environmental protection through community initiatives, following a collaboration between the Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji (SSDPSF) and Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL).

The partnership supported the inaugural Peace Zone Plogging Project, held at Shirley Park, Lautoka yesterday, which combined physical exercise with rubbish collection to encourage young people to protect the environment and promote peace through community service.

SSDPSF assistant national secretary Varish Prasad said peace began with individuals and grew through families, communities, organisations and nations.

Mr Prasad said young people had an important role to play in building a peaceful and united Fiji.

“Our collaboration with HWPL reflects our shared commitment to promoting peace beyond words,” he said.

“Through practical community activities, we want to encourage our youths to demonstrate respect, kindness, responsibility and unity.

“A clean environment, a peaceful community and a harmonious society all begin with the positive actions of individuals.”

Mr Prasad said the partnership aimed to strengthen youth participation in community initiatives and encourage young people to become responsible citizens and future leaders who promoted understanding rather than division.

He also encouraged Sanatan youths, community members, organisations and the wider public to support initiatives promoting peace, environmental awareness and social harmony.
