With their inter-house out of the way, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School is all set to start preparations for the upcoming Zone I competition and the prestigious Coca-Cola Games.
School principal Sanjay Raman said from the inter-house, athletes with times meeting zone and national games qualifications will be selected into their squad and begin preparations on Monday.
“We have more than 200 athletes competing here today during the inter-house,” he said.
“So, after we have a look at the times, we will then select our athletes where we will begin training on Monday.”
“However, from the final team we will be selecting now, we will keep on cutting off athletes until we reach the Coca-Cola Games.”
Meanwhile, Yellow House was crowned the overall champions of the MGM inter-house yesterday with a total of 27 gold, 19 silver, and 19 bronze medals.
Red House was second with 23 gold, 20 silver, and 11 bronze leaving Blue House in third place with 20 gold, 19 bronze, and nine silver.
Green House was fourth with 20 gold, 15 silver, and 18 bronze medals.
“It was good to see a lot of our parents and supports come in numbers to this competition to cheer for the kids.”
Raman has high hopes for this year’s Coca-Cola Games which will be held at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva from May 2-4.
