THE Yasawa women’s team delivered a commanding performance to thrash Taveuni 67-15 in their Royal Tea Ranadi Cup quarter-final clash at Buchurst Park One, Suva, yesterday.
The western side dominated all aspects of the game, solidifying their status as strong contenders for this season’s title.
Head coach Tuliana Ragadi, who also plays as the team’s tight head prop, said their hard work in preparation had paid off, keeping them on course for their ultimate goal – winning the competition.
“We had prepared really well for this quarter-finals match, and we thank Taveuni for the great game they gave us today. Today (yesterday) we came and we did what we needed to do,” Ragadi said.
She added, “For that we give thanks to the Lord Almighty for his strength and guidance during the match, and now another task awaits us as we look forward to the semi-finals.”
Despite the impressive scoreline, Ragadi acknowledged there was room for improvement ahead of the semi-finals.
“We did a number of mistakes today, when we get to Lautoka tomorrow (today) this will be something we need to discuss and work on if we are to book our finals spot this season,” she said.
Ragadi also took a moment to recognise the unwavering support of those behind the scenes, who have been the backbone of the team from the start of the season.
In other Ranadi quarter-final results, Cakaudrove thrashed Tavua 62-15, Navosa defeated Northland 41-24, and Northern Bulls crushed Serua 71-7.
