POLICE investigation into the alleged human and sex trafficking case of three young women in Nadi is in its final stages.

Allegations by the three women — aged between 16 and 19 — came under the spotlight last month after they sought shelter at the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces Joint Taskforce Command at Black Rock Camp in Nadi, claiming they were sold for sex by a local business owner.

The trio were taken in by Black Rock Commander Brigadier General Manoa Gadai, who reaffirmed the support of the RFMF in the police investigations.

He said investigations were ongoing with the police and it was expected that all those involved in these alleged acts of human trafficking, sexual exploitation and abuse would be brought before the court of law and held fully accountable.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro yesterday said the final stages included transcribing and translation of statements with the file to be compiled and submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.

The three women are currently under the protection of the State.
