Walk On Walk Strong (WOWS) Kids Fiji launched their first great WOWS SUP (stand-up paddling) event yesterday at the National Sailing Centre in Laucala Bay, Suva.

Present at the event was general secretary for the Pacific Conference of Churches the Rev James Bhagwan and the SUVA SUPers.

“Suva SUPers is a collective of stand-up paddling enthusiasts and for the last two years a number of us have adapted the great WOWS walk that has been running,” Mr Bhagwan said.

“This year we were looking at what we could do to support WOWS and our conversations with the groups on our distance and our target for the two challenges is 1000km.”

The group consists of 12 paddlers who will do various distances.

“We have average citizens of Fiji who just want to give something to support WOWS. We know that right now people are struggling and to ask anyone to give even for an important cause like WOWS Kids Fiji is a challenge that people might have to take on themselves.

“We’re going to struggle ourselves and suffer a little bit to make sure they get the value of money, but we’re doing that to support WOWS Kids Fiji and the amazing work that they are doing.”

The SUP challenge will begin on April 30.
