World Sight Day, observed on October 8, is a powerful reminder that good vision is essential to education, work, independence and quality of life. The 2026 global campaign continues the message #LoveYourEyes, encouraging people everywhere to prioritise their eye health and take action.
Asgar Optometrist-a legacy of caring for Fiji’s vision
For almost seven decades, Asgar Optometrist has been part of Fiji’s eye-care journey, serving generations of Fijians since 1957. What began with a simple vision—to make quality eye care accessible to the people of Fiji—has grown into a trusted name in Optometry and Optical services.
Asgar Optometrist has contributed to the development of Fiji’s Eye care and optical services through professional eye examinations, quality eyewear, and modern technology.
But our contribution is not only about technology or spectacles. It is about people.
Through free eye clinics, community awareness and regular eye examinations, Asgar Optometrist continues to encourage Fijians to look after their vision and seek professional advice before small eye problems become bigger concerns.
Through regular educational articles published in The Fiji Times, we have also continued to share knowledge with the Fijian public—helping people understand the importance of proper eye care, recognising the early signs of eye problems and making regular eye examinations a part of their healthcare routine.
From rural to urban, our commitment remains the same: to serve, to educate and to protect the vision of Fiji. As the country continues to grow, so does our responsibility to ensure that more Fijians have the opportunity to see clearly, live confidently and enjoy a better quality of life.
This World Sight Day, Love Your Eyes.
Have your eyes checked. Protect your sight. Protect your future.
