THREE women appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court for failing to comply with COVID-19 restrictions yesterday.
Mere Kasakilau, Sonia Khan and Marica Kautani were arrested at the Post Fiji Arcade in Suva by police officers from the Totogo Police Station on mobile patrol on Tuesday.
They were found loitering and not maintaining social distancing.
Police said the officers made three stops at the arcade between 9:30am and 10.13am on Tuesday and the women were told to leave twice.
On the third stop, they were arrested for breaching social distancing laws.
They were charged with failure to comply with orders contrary to section 69(3)(a)(v) of the Public Health Act 1935, Regulations 2 of the Public Health (Infectious Disease) Regulations 2020 and Public Health (COVID-19 Response) Public Notice 33 (5) and Containment Zone 5 of 2021.
All three accused pleaded guilty and were each fined $300 by the Magistrates Court.
They have until July 7 to pay their fines or a bench warrant will be issued.
