POLICE have officially classified the death of a woman in her 20s as a murder following her body’s discovery outside the Nadi Plaza in Martintar last week.
This was confirmed by police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro yesterday.
The victim has since been identified by her family, and an active police investigation is currently underway.
A coconut seller operating near the site stated that the body was first spotted by youths climbing a nearby mango tree who alerted other vendors and plaza security.
He said two male youths made the discovery while climbing a mango tree nearby.
The victim’s body was discovered naked however coconut sellers nearby covered her with a sulu.
It is understood that the location where the victim was found is a known weekend gathering spot for drinking.
