Woman-led agriculture company reps Fiji at world agrifood innovation conference

LOCALLY-owned agricultural processing company Zonah United has been selected to represent Fiji at the World AgriFood Innovation (WAFI) Conference scheduled to be held later this month in Beijing, China.

The conference is a global platform dedicated to advancing integrated innovation across agrifood systems.

Zonah United chief executive officer Naida Maqbool said this was a proud moment for their team and the country.

She said her vision for the company was grow Fijian trade, reduce dependence on imported products, and add value to locally grown agriculture and create nutritious and quality Fijian products for the people that could compete with the world.

“This is a huge recognition for Fiji to make its mark in China and the team and I will do our very best to represent our country with pride, showcase what Fiji can produce and fly the Fijian flag high,” Ms Maqbool said.

“We believe Fiji should not only consume products from the world, we should be producing and trading with the world.

“We will be taking our authentic Fijian brand Zorganic and compete alongside international brands on a global platform.”

The conference will be held from September 17-19.
