A heavy rain alert remains in force for the whole of Fiji and a flash flood alert remains in force for all flash flood prone areas, small streams and low lying areas of Viti Levu.

According to the weather bulletin issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi this morning a trough of low pressure lies just south of Fiji.

The associated cloud and showers/rain continue to affect most parts of the country.

Meanwhile, a north to southeast wind flow prevails over the group.

The forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group, expect occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms over Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Moala and Southern Lau groups.

Elsewhere, occasional showers, heavy at times.

Showers becoming frequent and increasing to rain with thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.

Isolated heavy falls may lead to flash flooding of low lying and flood prone areas.

Moderate to fresh southeast to northerly winds, gusty at times and moderate to rough seas.
