Minister for Housing Maciu Nalumisa says the Government’s long-term housing pipeline includes more than 6,246 residential lots, with the proposed Waila City development expected to deliver approximately 4,800 lots over the next decade.
In a written response tabled in Parliament, Nalumisa outlined several major housing developments planned by the Housing Authority to address growing demand for affordable and safe housing across Fiji.
The largest of the proposed developments is the Waila City project, an 800-acre undertaking planned in four phases between 2027 and 2032.
“The Authority’s long-term vision is the massive Waila project, an expansive 800-acre development that will fundamentally transform the housing landscape,” Nalumisa said.
The Minister said the Waila City project alone was expected to produce around 4,800 residential lots, with Phase One scheduled to begin in 2027.
“Planned for execution in four distinct phases between 2027 and 2032, this project is expected to yield a total of approximately 4,800 lots,” he said.
Nalumisa said subsequent phases would be rolled out annually through to 2032 to ensure a consistent supply of housing stock.
The Housing Authority’s wider development roadmap also includes the Tacirua Phase 2 development, which is expected to provide 298 lots, with civil works beginning in August 2025 and targeted for completion by December 2026.
The Veikoba development is projected to deliver 537 lots, with civil works planned from October 2025 through to 2028.
Another major project, Wairabetia, is expected to feature 611 lots and 299 model homes, with onsite works scheduled to begin in late 2027.
Nalumisa said the Housing Authority’s overall pipeline now exceeds 6,246 residential lots as part of efforts to improve access to housing and home ownership opportunities for Fijians.
