Veteran Ame Votoniu ensured Nadi did not suffer three losses on the trot in the Digicel Fiji Premier League as his header in the dying moments helped the Jetsetters hold competition leaders Rewa 1-1 on Saturday night.
With second-placed Labasa and third-placed Ba playing to a 3-all draw earlier in day, Rewa had the opportunity to increase its lead at the top at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Both teams tried hard to find the back of the net in the first spell but failed to do so.
It was in the 65th minute when Rewa midfielder Patrick Joseph broke the deadlock to put the Delta Tigers in the lead.
Rewa had a few opportunities to put the result beyond doubt but poor finishing let them down.
Nadi applied pressure in the final few minutes looking for an equaliser.
Votoniu, who has rescued Nadi on several occasions in the past with this powerful header, scored in the 96th minute to rescue a point for the visitors. The win saw both teams walk away with a point each from the eighth round.
Both teams will now prepare for the ninth round this week before the league goes into a break for the Fiji FACT scheduled for next month.
