A virtual fashion auction to raise funds to buy food packs for Fijian families affected by the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic will be held this Saturday, June 19, 2021.

The auction is being facilitated by designers – Hupfeld Hoerder, Robert Verebasaga, Natalia Larsen, Atelaite Daunibau, Temesia Tuicaumia Andrew Powell and Samson Lee who are part of Wearing Fiji.

Local fashionista and member of parliament, Lynda Tabuya who has been distributing food packs to communities during this pandemic is also part of this initiative along with her children who will be modelling the outfits donated by the designers.

The outfits donated by the designers are from their new season collection, which will be launched later in the year.

Each designer has donated an outfit from their new season collection for the auction, which will be held through the Wearing Fiji Virtual Charity Auction page on Facebook from 11am to 2pm Fiji time on Saturday, June 19.

Ms Tabuya said this is a noble gesture from these designers who have also been affected by the pandemic.

“COVID-19 does not respect any border, race, culture, profession or religion. We are all affected one way or another whether through the health crisis or the economic crisis. It is time to put our differences aside and do whatever we can to help friends, families, neighbors and fellow Fijians who have been affected by the pandemic,” Ms Tabuya said.

“We are appealing to the Fijian diaspora overseas to join this auction, which will be in Fijian dollars. All they need to do is register through the Wearing Fiji Virtual Charity Auction page on Facebook and be online from 11am to 2pm Fiji time on Saturday to bid.”
