The Uluinakau 7s tournament came to a thrilling conclusion yesterday at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori, with two days of spectacular rugby 7s action.

Tournament manager James Vunituraga said it was a success this year, an exciting tournament with a lot of raw talent.

“With the 24 teams we had a good competition from all categories, there was a lot of support from the fans and family which made the tournament a big success,” said Vunituraga.

Vunituraga said there were a lot of skilled and dedicated young players coming through the ranks.

“This tournament will really boost the level of rugby and get more greater players to wear the white (Fiji) jersey,” said Vunituraga.

“Thanking our sponsors Pacific Energy, FMF, Sports World, and not forgetting Hide n Seek bar for their support for this tournament,” he added.

In the men’s main cup final, Provider Veiyasana emerged victorious, defeating Nakavu 7-5 in a close and hard-fought match. In the women’s division, Seahawks, the defending champions, continued their dominance by defeating Marist in a lopsided 45-7 victory in the final.
