Vatutavui Village in Ba is set to be introduced as a new rugby league club this season.

Fiji National Rugby League development officer Jone Wesele confirmed Vatutavui Village will be the latest addition to the rugby league scene this season.

Wesele responded to the expressed interest of several groups in the village last year who were keen on joining the sport.

“I have engaged in discussions with these groups of men, youth, and women from Vatutavui Village, and they are interested in joining rugby league,” Wesele said.

In the ongoing process, Wesele is diligently preparing the necessary documentation for the club, including meeting minutes and their constitution, which will be presented during the upcoming FNRL annual general meeting.

Wesele also confirms the Vatutavui team will travel every Saturday to play in the Lautoka zone.

Vatutavui Village is the border village between the tikina (districts) Nailaga and Tavua on the Tavua side of the province of Ba.

The village is set to make its mark on the rugby league landscape.

Meanwhile, the FNRL AGM originally scheduled for this month has been postponed to a later date.
