The University of the South Pacific Law Students Association (USPLSA) will be having its sports day this weekend after a long haul.

Happening for the first time on Saturday after a lapse of seven years, the USPLSA hopes to bring together everyone under their school for a day of sports and connection building.

Recreation and Sports Chairperson for USP Law Students Association Raynav Chand says they have a purpose to fulfil on the day.

“The purpose is to get together students, it is also for health and fitness reasons,” he said.

“We want students to take part and feel involved with the event of USPLSA and USP itself. The whole purpose is to get everyone together inclusivity, diversity, targeting people from all walks of life. Law School has people from all over the Pacific including Tonga, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Fiji so its like a coming together for all. The event is happening after about six to seven years, so we are very proud to initiate this event.”

While it is solely for law students, they are not closing the doors on other students.

“Its only for law students but with our Pacific culture if anyone comes from another school like School of Accounting, we are going to include them but, its mainly for law students so that its a way of interacting, making memories and lifelong friendships,” Chand added.

Saturday’s Sports Day will start at 8am and finish around 5pm.

It will include mixed touch rugby, mixed volleyball, and netball prizes will be up for grabs and will be revealed along with their sponsors on the day of the event.
