Cricket fans will have something to look forward to this weekend when the semi-finals of the Fiji Secondary Schools Under-19 Women’s League get underway at Albert Park in Suva on Saturday.
In the first semi-final, Lelean Memorial School will be facing William Cross College while Tailevu North will be going up against Adi Cakobau School White.
Fiji Cricket chief executive officer Sitiveni Rokoro says they are expecting exciting competition from the four teams that have dominated their different pools from the start of the tournament.
“We are expecting an exciting round of games from these top four teams, and we can not wait to see who qualifies for the finals,” he said.
“Lelean continues their dream run in their maiden tournament and has shown their commitment to make an impact in the competition. They will play William Cross who will also play in their first semi-final outing, and this will be a good match-up.”
Defending Champions ACS White will have to come prepared before taking Tailevu North who boasts four members of the National U19 Women’s team.
“Defending champion ACS will have to prepare well to overcome a tough Tailevu North outfit laced with four members of the National U19 women’s team.”
Rokoro said there had been improvement in the performance of teams since the competition started early last month.
“There is an overall improvement in the skills displayed by all the teams especially those who have made it into the semi-finals.
“The players’ main challenge is how they have to juggle between athletics and cricket training during their preparation.”
