Natabua High School runner Frances Tuva dedicated her medal win to her sickly father.

The former Adi Cakobau School student scooped a gold medal in the 200 metres senior girls final at the Coca-Cola Games at the HFC Bank Stadium yesterday.

Sereima Rasovasiva of Jasper Williams settled for the silver while Melania Ranadi of ACS got silver.

Tuva competed in the 200m, 400m and 4×400 relay events during the three-day competition.

On Thursday, Tuva had to settle for a silver medal behind Ranadi in the senior girls 400m race.

“I dedicate this gold and win to my biggest supporter, my father who is not here right now, he’s in Nadi in the hospital,” Tuva said.

“I want to thank the old scholars or Natabua, they’ve really been supporting me from day one until now.

“And not forgetting my mum, my family and ACS supporters.”

The Year 12 student said her goal was to break the 200m record, however, she would continue to work towards that goal next year.

“Coming into the games this week, I wanted to break the 200m record.

“I will continue to train and work hard to get better results next year.”
