Trial date set for man accused of raping Virgin Australia cabin crew

The High Court in Lautoka has  allocated a trial date in the case of a man accused of raping a Virgin Australia Airlines cabin crew member in Nadi.
Iliesa Tanoa Degei appeared before High Court Judge Justice Sunil Sharma this morning facing formal counts of rape and sexual assault.
The charges stem from an alleged incident occurring within the Nadi district in late 2024.
The court heard that the trial date would take place from September 7 -11.
State Counsel Praneeta Prakash informed the court that the matter was fully prepared to proceed to hearing.
Ms Prakash also confirmed that all necessary pre-trial conference documents had been duly completed, filed, and exchanged between parties, and that state witnesses are ready to give evidence for the trial.
Justice Sharma adjourned the matter to September 7 before extending bail for Mr Degei.
