Any visitor to the country who tests positive for COVID-19 while in quarantine will immediately be required to go into a 10-day isolation at his or her own cost.

This, according to the revised entry conditions by the Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport Ministry that came into effect yesterday.

Fiji’s international borders opened yesterday, but only to fully vaccinated permit holders, Fijian passport holders and returning residents who were required to stay at a Care Fiji Commitment (CFC) certified property, hotel, or resort.

“Travellers must spend three nights in a CFC certified property and can take part in CFC approved excursions and activities within the Safe Travel Area (STA),” the ministry said.

“Travellers will be required to take an approved COVID-19 test after 48 hours of arrival at the hotel.

“After clearing a negative test, the traveller is free to explore the STA or enter the community.

“The cost of testing will be borne by the hotel or traveller.

“The swab will be done by trained professionals and certified health professionals affiliated to the hotel.

“In the case of a positive test result, national guidelines will determine further testing and 10-day isolation.”

The ministry said travellers must download Fiji’s contact tracing mobile phone application, careFIJI and keep the device’s Bluetooth on at all times during their stay.
