Training, development vital for workers

A REGISTERED training organisation in Australia has found that the training cost in Fiji is quite high compared with the wages earned.

Australian Online Training’s David Millward, in an interview with this newspaper, is offering four courses with all industry specifics — two of which are mandatory training — at a rate of $300 for all four.

He said he had seen courses in Fiji that cost $300 each.

“With the right training and Australian Government incentives for employers, this could lead to thousands of work on a full-time or season basis,” Mr Millward said yesterday.

“Upskill yourself with the right and current Australian qualification, which shows your passion to learn and improve your own skill sets.”

He said Fijian workers were friendly, highly-skilled and passionate about working and improving their livelihoods.

“Of all Pacific Island countries, no doubt, Fiji has the most qualified hotel workers in the region with so many international brands operating out of this beautiful country.

“Our Learning Management System (LMS) is RTO-accredited and 100 per cent online which is why our course fees are low.

“Days of carrying a bag to a 6-12 week classroom studies is numbered and soon will completely disappear.

“With the digital age and high-speed internet comes an endless horizon of online training and upskilling at affordable costs.

“It is simple …. register your interest, fill in a template CV, consider doing the recommended online courses and you’re done.

“All we need is an email and a password and we set up your own learning dashboard for the upskill courses.

“No time restriction or classroom work — purely online and industry recognised in Australia.”
