THE Suva Inter-Primary Football Tournament at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva will allow coaches and selectors of the Suva Primary Schools Football Association to select their players for the upcoming Primary Schools Inter-District Championship later this year.
This was confirmed by the association’s president, Radhe Krishna, during day two of the tournament yesterday.
“This tournament will allow us to scout for our players for the different grades to the Primary Schools IDC, which is supposed to be held in August, but we still have to confirm the date,” he said.
A total of 900 players are currently taking part in the competition, with over a hundred matches being held over the three days which concludes today.
“We have more players competing, especially the girls, compared to last year’s tournament.”
Krishna said the sunny weather over the past two days allowed the competition to run smoothly, without any issues from teams in the tournament.
“Everything has been running smoothly since day one, just a little bit of delay here and there because we’re dealing with children, but nothing to be worried about.
“We’re also happy because we’ve had great sunny weather in the past two days and we hope it continues tomorrow.”
