Cruise liner Royal Princess docked at the Lautoka Port last Saturday with more than 3000 Australian tourists on board.

Teki Tours freelance tour guide George Hickes said he took a group of tourists to Nadi and Viseisei Village in Vuda.

“I was happy with the cruise ship arrival today (Saturday),” he said.

“I think businesses in Nadi and Lautoka made a good profit.

“There were a lot of buses going to Nadi as well because of the tours that the Jet Set Town offers for tourists.

“It’s good for our country, good for those that own shops in Fiji, local tours and taxi drivers.

“Everybody is happy at least they take a piece of cake home.

“And for myself, it gives me a job opportunity because I’m retired.

“I used to work for Sun Tours Fiji and Coral Sun and as a driver for Mr Mick Beddoes when he was the Leader of Opposition in 2001.

“And I still do drive for Mr Beddoes because we’ve known each other for 40 years.”

The former Nadroga soccer star said to become a tour guide you need to have the passion and love for your country.

“I like talking, and you don’t have to be fancy, just use words that are simple.

“So, when Teki Tours would call, I come and make myself available when a cruise ship arrives in Lautoka.”

Royal Princess also docked at the Suva Port yesterday as tourists had the opportunity to visit the Capital City’s many attractions.
