THE newly crowned Miss FMF Duavata Northern Crime Prevention princess 2026 is calling on the public to stand together in the fight against bluetoothing and substance abuse.
Besila Drauna said the issue continued to threaten families, communities and the nation’s youth.
The 14-year-old of Naseakula Village, outside Labasa, made the plea after being crowned at Subrail Park on Friday night.
Miss Build More Designs PTE Ltd Amanda Robinson was named first runner-up.
Ms Drauna said her advocacy throughout the week-long carnival focused on raising awareness about the dangers of bluetoothing as children as young as her age were involved in cases of drug abuse.
“I hope that through my advocacy and that of the other contestants, we have inspired people to have open conversations, seek help when needed, and work together to protect the next generation,” she said.
She said she did not expect to win the crown as competition was tough.
“However, it has been a journey of growth, service, and advocacy. This win is dedicated to my support group at home, not forgetting my namesake who travelled from Taveuni to be present every night.
“Although only one person wears the crown, each one of the contestants is a winner. You have all inspired me with your courage, confidence, and passion for serving our community.”
She said she would continue to raise awareness about the dangers of bluetoothing and encourage young people to make positive choices for a brighter future.
