TEAM took another important step in its preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with athletes and officials gathering for a full-day team assembly at the Tanoa Plaza Hotel in Suva yesterday.
The assembly brought together athletes, coaches and management staff as part of a wider build-up aimed at ensuring the national contingent is fully prepared for the demands of the Games.
The program focused on a range of key areas including Team Fiji values and responsibilities, media and marketing expectations, travel logistics, safeguarding, anti-doping, hydration, nutrition, and mental health and wellbeing.
The sessions were designed to equip athletes and officials with the knowledge and understanding needed both on and off the field, while strengthening unity within the squad ahead of competition.
A key highlight of the assembly was the launch of Team Fiji’s official uniform for the Glasgow Games, marking another milestone in the team’s journey towards the international event.
Officials said the assembly was about building more than just a team, but a culture grounded in excellence, respect, commitment and unity.
Breakout sessions were also held during the day, allowing athletes and officials to separately discuss their roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
The Commonwealth Games campaign is expected to be one of Fiji’s biggest sporting undertakings, with Team Fiji hoping its preparation off the field will translate into success on it.
