Rusila Tabuayawa of Naitasiri Secondary School has once again proven herself by winning her second gold medal in the senior girls, clinching the 800m final in a time of 2 minutes 30.72 seconds.
She had previously won gold in the 1500m event on day two of the competition.
The 17-year-old attributed her success to hard work and dedication, stating that the tough competition only fuelled her determination to succeed.
“I believe that my success is a result of hard work and dedication, the tough competition only motivated me to push harder and succeed,” said Tabuayawa.
“Despite facing challenges living in the highlands with limited facilities, I made sure to train rigorously, even doing early morning uphill runs to get ready for the competition.”
Tabuayawa is determined to improve her performance and set new personal records in the upcoming competitions.
“I am eager to enhance my performance and achieve new personal records in the upcoming competitions.
“I am so grateful to my family and teachers for their unwavering support, they truly deserve recognition for my accomplishments,” she added.
“My focus is on coming back stronger next year, working on my weaknesses, and continuously improving.”
