THE Suva Netball Association has recorded encouraging growth in club participation despite ongoing challenges with access to court facilities.
Newly appointed president Koila Kabu said the association had managed to sustain and expand its membership base, with clubs from across the greater Suva area continuing to support the competition.
Kabu said maintaining a large association required strong collaboration and strategic planning.
“One of our biggest achievements is being able to sustain the association and increase the number of clubs participating,” she said.
“We now have clubs travelling from afar and other areas to compete. Keeping that momentum and ensuring players have opportunities to showcase their skills is a success.”
Kabu acknowledged the long-standing support of sponsor NewWorld, whose partnership with the association has spanned nearly two decades.
She said the backing had helped the association focus not only on netball development but also on maintaining interest and participation in the sport.
The minor grades competition began two weeks ago and is already in its third round, while the major grades competition commenced yesterday.
Kabu said the strong turnout from players, officials, sponsors and families highlighted the growing strength of the competition.
“The pictures speak for themselves. The commitment from clubs and the community continues to be outstanding,” she said.
The developing teams have completed round three while the senior teams launched their first round of games yesterday.
