A MAJOR push to modernise Fiji’s police force is in progress, with new strategy targeting gaps in capability, training and systems.
The Ministry of Policing Strategic Plan 2025–2030 sets out a roadmap to strengthen the Fiji Police Force over the next five years.
It identifies “FPF modernisation, digital & capability development” as a central focus area.
The document calls for improvements in leadership, governance and operational effectiveness.
It also highlights the need to build an “information-age policing culture” that can respond to evolving threats.
“Modern security challenges are interconnected,” the strategy states, underlining the importance of adaptability and continuous learning.
Officials say the reforms will include enhanced training, better resource management and upgraded infrastructure.
The plan also aims to improve accountability and performance across the force.
Authorities believe strengthening internal capability is key to delivering better policing outcomes.
The strategy represents a long-term effort to future-proof law enforcement and ensure officers are equipped to deal with increasingly complex security challenges.
