ST Teresa College coach Penaia Qalituraga believes his side is ready for the challenge as they prepare to face defending champions Sigatoka Methodist College in the West Secondary School Rugby Union U16 Raluve final at Lawaqa Park tomorrow.
Qalituraga said his players have shown tremendous commitment throughout the season and are determined to make the most of their opportunity in the final.
“We understand Sigatoka Methodist is not an easy team. They are the defending U16 Raluve champions, but we will give them a good game,” he said.
The St Teresa side booked their place in the decider after edging Votualevu College 19-12 in a thrilling semi-final at 4R Stadium in Ba, while Sigatoka Methodist secured their spot with a commanding 17-0 victory over Jasper Williams High School last week.
Qalituraga praised his players for overcoming daily challenges to reach the final, saying their dedication has been inspiring.
“First, I want to thank the girls for a great game. They showed a lot of heart and commitment out there. These players have to cross the river every day to come to school and this is the challenge they face every day. Despite that, they continue to work hard and give their best,” he added.
The upcoming final is expected to be an exciting contest, with St Teresa aiming to dethrone the defending champions and claim the Western title, while Sigatoka Methodist will be looking to maintain their dominance in the Under-16 Raluve grade.
Meanwhile the U18 Raluve final between Natabua High School and Jasper Williams High School will be curtain-raiser to the Super W semi-final clash between the McDonald’s Fijian Drua Women and the Queensland Reds at Churchill Park tomorrow.
