TAU Sports Limited (TSL), manufacturer of uniform, sports and corporate wear yesterday opened an outlet at the MHCC complex in Suva.

Company proprietor Awadei Veeriah Gnanarajah said they had invested close to $500,000 in the new outlet and were very proud to have reached this milestone.

“We had three outlets which we had to close to keep our business running during COVID-19. This reopening is the result of the progress made to get back on track and make it accessible for our customers,” Mr Gnanarajah said.

He said they are also in talks of opening an outlet in Nadi for western customers and export reasons.

“We are now planning to open one outlet in Nadi for the Western people and an access for our export market in future,” he said.

Tau Sports is a big supplier of sports attire in Fiji, especially of major sporting events such as the annual Sukuna Bown competitions.

“During Sukuna Bowl, we were the manufacturers for the police and the army merchandise and sports wears,” Mr Gnanarajah said.

“Post-COVID, through the Sukuna Bowl alone we made over $100,000 annually and we’re very grateful for that,” he said.

He said the company was preparing for next year’s back-to-school sales.

“We make offers for 72 school uniforms across the country so, for all those preparing for back-to-school next year, they can come to our MHCC outlet and we are open seven days a week from 9am to 7pm.”

In officially opening Tau’s new outlet, Investment Fiji’s chief executive officer Kamal Chetty said it was good to see the company grow and do very well in the local market.

“This is the kind of businesses we support, I am sure the Government also supports, to grow in terms of manufacturing and this adds value to the products made in Fiji. So we congratulate them for this success and we’re sure that the nation will engage in supporting them as well,” Mr Chetty said.

Tau Sports is a 100 per cent locally owned brand and has been in operation since 2010.

The company is among a chain of companies owned by Mr Gnanarajah, specialising in the production of sporting garments and merchandise including customised outfits.
