Southern Zone Deans heats up

ROUND five of the Southern Zone competitions delivered another action-packed day of school rugby, with dominant victories, nail biting finishes and crucial results as teams continued their push for places in the knockout stages.

The under-14 grade featured several impressive performances, Lomary cruised to a convincing 38-5 win over Church College Fiji, while Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School claimed a solid 21-7 victory against Suva Grammar School. Marist Brothers High School also impressed with a hard-fought 24-12 triumph over Dudley High School.

The U15 division produced some of the closest contests of the round. Gospel High School edged Dudley High School 17-16 in a thrilling encounter, while Nabua Secondary School and Marist Brothers High School shared points after a 14-14 draw. Assemblies of God High School secured a comfortable 27-12 win over Christian Mission Fellowship College, while Suva Grammar School received a walkover against Nabua Secondary School.

The U16 grade saw several dominant displays. Marist Brothers High School recorded the biggest win of the round, overwhelming Basden College 81-0, while Suva Grammar School blanked Church College Fiji 52-0. Nabua defeated Namosi Secondary School 20-0, and Lami High School also kept a clean sheet with a 24-0 victory over Assemblies of God High School.

Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School out scored Lomaivuna High School 36-22, Nabua Secondary School defeated Rampur College 22-10, and Nabua Secondary School edged Suva Muslim College 26-23 in one of the day’s most entertaining fixtures. Dudley High School also secured a narrow 14-13 win over Gospel High School.

In the U18 division, Marist Brothers High School edged Nabua 22-19 in a tightly contested match, while Nabua Secondary School dominated Ratu Sukuna Memorial School with a commanding 42-7 victory. Suva Grammar School won by default over Church College Fiji.
