THE homeowner’s son’s bedroom is the suspected starting point of a Monday fire that completely destroyed a seven-bedroom house along the Viseisei bypass.

National Fire Authority Chief Executive Officer Puamau Sowane said initial details gathered at the scene point directly to the bedroom, though the exact cause remains unknown.

“We have yet to determine the cause of fire but initial information gathered at the scene indicates that the fire started from the owner’s son’s room,” he said.

“He was unable to determine how it started.”

The blaze left a family of three homeless, and Sowane confirmed that official fire investigations will continue in order to determine the suspected cause.
