Solomon Police raid marijuana garden

Update: 4:24PM A JOINT operation between the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Honiara City and Guadalcanal Province uprooted and confiscated about 3000 marijuana plants last Saturday.

Police uprooted two gardens in two different locations – one location at Mbarande and the other at Mbalesuna, East Guadalcanal.

A statement from RSIPF reported that during the raid, the joint operation apprehended an alleged suspect for farming the illegal plant.

The suspect is in Police custody pending further investigations.

Joint Operation team leader Inspector William Foufaka said chiefs and community elders were pleased with this operation and they appealed for more raids to uproot marijuana plants around Guadalcanal plains.

Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province Nixon Manetoga acknowledged the community working together with Police that resulted in the successful operation.

“We work together to remove these dangerous plants from our communities to make our communities a safe place,” PPC Manetoga said in the statement.

PPC Manetoga appealed to the local communities to contact Police and report any similar activities happening in their communities.
